Information You Choose to Send
Names Entered in Search
When you type a name, location, or other query into a search box, that request is transmitted to the third-party search provider that operates the tool. Williamson County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider receives the query under its own technology and privacy practices, so review the terms shown by that service before submitting personal details.
Emails and Contact Messages
If you email us or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you supply for the purpose of reading and answering it. We do not share that message outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Technical Details Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our systems and service providers receive limited technical information when a page loads. These records help deliver pages, measure use, detect faults, and protect the service. Depending on the browser and service involved, the data may include:
- The internet protocol address used for the visit
- Browser name, browser version, and language settings
- Device category and operating system
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them
- The referring website or link, when supplied
- Date and time stamps associated with requests
Cookies and Similar Tools
Cookies and comparable browser storage may be used to understand how visitors move through the site, remember basic settings, support advertising, and measure performance. You can block or delete cookies through your browser controls. Some site functions, partner tools, or preference settings may work differently when cookies are disabled.
Purposes for Using Information
Information is used only for ordinary site operations and the services a visitor requests. Those uses include:
- Operating the website and delivering pages efficiently
- Sending a submitted search to the selected search partner
- Understanding which Williamson County record pages are useful
- Finding abuse, broken links, and technical errors
- Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests
Privacy Beyond This Website
Pages may link to Williamson County Judicial Records, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, VINE, federal custody locators, other government portals, and outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination’s privacy notice and data practices control. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to many Texas government records, but it does not replace the separate privacy policy of a website that displays or processes a request.
Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology on their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That tracking, when it occurs, is performed under the partner’s controls and policies rather than by Williamson County Released Inmates as an official-record custodian.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may still be disclosed or processed when needed for the functions described in this notice. Potential recipients include:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and use
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other lawful demand
Safeguards and Their Limits
We use reasonable administrative and technical practices intended to reduce unauthorized access, misuse, or loss. No internet transmission, connected server, email system, or storage method can be guaranteed secure. We therefore cannot promise that data will never be intercepted, exposed, altered, or lost despite those efforts.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a minor. If a parent or guardian believes a person under 18 submitted personal data, please use the Contacts page so we can review and delete information held by us where appropriate.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of our systems, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in our possession
- Delete information we are not required to retain
- Stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out applies
These requests apply to data held by Williamson County Released Inmates. A correction to a jail, court, TDCJ, VINE, BOP, or ICE record must go to the agency or service that controls that record.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as the site, its partners, or applicable requirements change. The revised version becomes available on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after publication means the visitor accepts the revised practices.
